Trump Budget to cut $72B from Social Security Disability
Trump's proposed budget cuts a whopping $72 Billion from the Social Security Disability program. As an interesting piece of that proposal, Trump's budget would require Disability applicants to engage in work-related activities before an application will be considered.
This requirement is contrary to the Disability program itself. If individuals are able to engage in work-related activities, they are not disabled, per SSA regulations. Further, people who apply for SSDI or SSI benefits are unable to participate in work-related activities, which is the very reason people apply for these programs.
